A bill that’s getting fast-tracked through the New Jersey Legislature would double many contribution limits for elections and remove many pay-to-play donation restrictions. The measure has the support of an independent state commission charged with monitoring elections but good-government groups criticized it as it cleared procedural hurdles in both the Senate and Assembly with unanimous support from Democratic and Republican legislators less than two weeks after it was first introduced.
