The Epic Games Summer Showcase brought an interesting new announcement for fans of The Lord of the Rings. A new title now takes you to the mines of Moria.
Free Range Games and North Beach Games announced the new The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria at the Epic Games Summer Showcase. This is a mix of survival and crafting game set in the well-known mines and kingdom of the dwarves in JRR Tolkien’s universe.
The independent development studio focuses on the fourth age of Middle-earth and follows the dwarves on their adventure to reclaim and restore their realm in Moria. As such, you will be taken on a journey beyond the books.
Taking control of dwarves, you venture into the depths of Khazad-dûm, where your quest must fight and survive the horrors lurking there. In addition to the exploration aspect, crafting is not neglected, as you have to restore all kinds of systems in the mines.
The mines of Moria are created procedurally, i.e. randomly generated; two adventures will never be the same in this respect. All Expeditions into the Deep can be tackled either solo or online co-op. You can build bases in conquered areas. In fights you can defend yourself with all sorts of weapons.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will be released in spring 2023, initially exclusively on PC via the Epic Games Store.
