Microsoft’s oldest franchise will resurrect planes from older versions of the game and will welcome new aircraft, including helicopters, gliders, an Airbus A310 as well as the Pelican from Halo.

Flight Simulator turns 40 next November. To celebrate the anniversary of its oldest franchise, Microsoft has just announced that its flight simulation game will welcome new planes. These new aircraft are available to all players who own the title or who play it via Xbox Game Pass, thanks to an extension offered free of charge.

Totally free new planes

With this special edition 40e anniversary, Microsoft says it wants to pay homage to older versions of its game franchise by resurrecting some of the most legendary planes and airports from Flight Simulator X and Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight.

The Redmond firm also indicates that it has taken into consideration the many complaints made by the gaming community. For this edition 40eanniversary of Flight Simulator, Microsoft has selected the most requested aircraft by fans of the franchise. The game will thus welcome historical planes (Wright Flyer, Ryan NYP “Spirit of Saint Louis”, Douglas DC-3 and De Havilland Canada DHC-2-Beaver), helicopters (Bell-407 and Guimbal Cabri G2), gliders ( DG Flugzeugbau LG8-18 and DG Flugzeugbau DG1001E neo) as well as a real airliner, the Airbus A310. To go even further, Microsoft has entered into a partnership with the 343 Industries studio in order to be able to propel you to the controls of the Pelican of Halo.

The 40 editione Flight Simulator Anniversary is available today on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Windows and Steam, and Xbox One, smartphones and tablets via xCloud.
