With Ara: History Untold, Oxide Games has presented a 4X strategy game that will apparently fall somewhere between Civilization and Humankind. A CGI trailer accompanied the presentation.

Meaningless trailer released

The Xbox and Bethesda Showcase introduced the game with a bland CGI trailer that could have been released for any Civilization as well. But at least a few screenshots from the official website give an insight into the gameplay of Ara: History Untold.

Spacious cities can be seen, in which individual parts of the city can probably be seen. In addition, borders and wonders of the world are recognizable. We suspect: The classic 4X turn-based strategy game will be somewhere between the classic Civilization and the youngest genre challenger Humankind – and maybe bring one or two sprinkles from Crusader Kings 3 with it.

4X Strategy by Oxide Games

Founded in 2013 by Firaxis and EA veterans, the Oxide Games studio has only released one strategy game. Ashes of the Singularity was solid in 2016 – but not much more.

With Ara: History Untold, the developers are now promising a 4X strategy game in which players will lead a nation through world history. New countries should be discovered, art and culture developed, and of course conflicts decided by diplomacy or on the battlefield.

Players are meant to “become the architects of a living world” powered by the in-house Nitrous Engine. This should be able to be influenced by the player in its appearance in the long term.

Insider program starts in 2022

An insider program for Ara: Untold History is scheduled to start in 2022. Selected players should give feedback here in order to be able to help shape the game in its final meters.

Ara: History Untold will be released for PC and will be included in the game pass on release date.
