A budget iPad may get a USB-C port in 2022. It is reported by Engadget.
We are talking about the so-called “just” iPad – the basic model of the “apple” tablet with a diagonal of 10.2 inches. It costs less than other models and still retains the old classic design with large bezels around the display and a physical Home button with Touch ID. In the entire iPad lineup, this is the latest tablet with Lightning – last year even the iPad mini 6 was transferred to USB-C.
According to the source, in 2022, the budget “just” iPad will receive an update and finally get rid of Lightning in favor of USB-C. If this happens, then all Apple iPad models will be equipped with this port, and only iPhones, AirPods, and the Apple TV remote will remain Lightning carriers.
By the way, in addition to replacing the connector, the future base iPad will receive a new Apple A14 Bionic SoC, and the display will be slightly enlarged.
Previously, we showed new mockups of the iPhone 14, which give a great idea of the appearance and dimensions of future smartphones.
