Adidas is suing Nike. The company claims that its competitor has infringed nine patents related to mobile apps and adjustable shoe technology.
The lawsuit alleges that the Nike Run Club, Training Club, and SNKRS apps infringe on Adidas patents related to workout audio feedback features, GPS tracking, workout plans, and integration with third-party accessories such as heart rate monitors.
Adidas also claimed that the Nike Adapt auto-lacing sneakers infringe on a patent owned by Adidas_1. These are running shoes with a small mechanism inside the sole that adjusts the firmness of the shoe in real time.

Adidas is seeking damages from Nike, as well as a court order prohibiting Nike from “infringing, directly or indirectly, one or more” of the relevant patents.
Adidas has previously filed a similar lawsuit against Under Armor over the Map My Fitness app. The companies eventually agreed, Under Armor paid the licensing fees to Adidas. [The Verge]
