Samsung decided to abolish the Samsung Pay service in its smartphones – it will be replaced by another one. It is reported by The Verge.

According to the source, Samsung Pay as we knew it will soon cease to exist. The Korean company decided to completely re-register this service and turn it from a payment instrument into a full-fledged digital wallet.

Now Samsung Wallet, a full-fledged digital wallet, will appear on the brand’s smartphones. It will replace the existing Pay, Pass, and Blockchein Wallet branded apps, and integrate with SmartThings.

It will be possible to add bank cards, digital keys to a house or car, tickets for transport or events, club and discount cards, digital identities – ID cards, driver’s licenses, and so on to the new Wallet. In addition, now with the help of the new application it will be possible to pay with cryptocurrency and track smart tags on personal items.

Samsung Wallet is already available in several countries around the world on the brand’s smartphones running Android 9 or later. Gradually, it will spread to most devices around the world. Samsung will reveal more details at its upcoming Unpacked event.

Recall that in Russia, Samsung Pay began to work intermittently from March 2022. It will no longer be possible to add or use a Russian Visa / MasterCard card in this service, and MIR cards do not work for everyone. Android smartphone users are increasingly switching to Mir Pay.
