With the help of a new beta BIOS from MSI, some of the previously blocked options for AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D can be used. These finally include tension, PBO and the curve optimizer. Others like the multiplier are and will probably remain locked. Therefore, read below how much additional performance a Ryzen 7 5800X3D can achieve after optimization.
AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D is an extremely fast gaming CPU, but AMD had to make some trade-offs for the stacked 3D cache that angered the enthusiast community. It was already clear before the new processors were launched that they could not be overclocked using a multiplier, that voltage regulation was not enabled and that PBO could not be used either. This combined with the reduced impact of memory OC makes the Ryzen 7 5800X3D almost completely uninteresting for overclockers.

Only with very expensive mainboards such as the Unify series from MSI can at least the BCLK be overclocked by an external clock generator, which of course is only possible to a limited extent before all peripheral devices then refuse to work on the corresponding PC . The user Komachi_Osaka of the MSI forum has now created a remedy for these problems with a leaked new beta BIOS E7C35AMS, so that at least some of the otherwise known OC functions also work for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D.
The administrator Svet from the same forum has therefore carried out initial tests and recorded the changes. The Vcore-Offset, PBO and the popular Curve-Optimizer seem to work with the beta BIOS version, which allows users to optimize their Ryzen 7 5800X3D at least within a certain framework, although this is hardly necessary anymore. Unfortunately, the results are relatively sobering. In the single-core, the difference is less than one percent, so that one could even speak of a measurement inaccuracy, while in the multi-core, at least 4.7% more performance could be achieved. So far it is not clear whether MSI is also planning the new BIOS version for other boards or whether it should remain with the X570 Unify.
