5月上旬に北栄町妻波の高さ40メートルの鉄塔にある巣でふ化した、国の特別天然記念物コウノトリのひな3羽に20日、個体を識別する足環の取り付けや生育状況の観察が行われた。ひな3羽はいずれも平均の4?を超える大きさに育っており、町は「温かく見守ってほしい」と話している。
