From 1 January next year, cat owners must register their cats in a state register, much like dog owners must do with their dogs today. The Swedish Board of Agriculture has now announced that they will develop a new system that will make it possible to register their cats via a new e-service from the authority.
When the new law comes into force, cats must be marked with a tattoo or a chip by a veterinarian or other approved ID marker. In addition to that cost, there is an additional cost for carrying out the actual registration in the Swedish Board of Agriculture’s future register. What that fee will land on, there is so far no information about.
Sometime in mid-January 2023, the Swedish Board of Agriculture plans to launch its new cat registration service.
