It had already happened last May and it is again the case. Last week in Japan, sales of Xbox Series X and S were higher than those of PS5. A sign that once again shows Sony’s supply difficulties, but also the enthusiasm of the Japanese public for the Xbox brand.
The Xbox Series S still popular in Japan
The sales figures published by Famitsu show several things. The first is that the Nintendo Switch continues to sell like hotcakes. She’s the real hit in Japan, and the OLED model has boosted sales.
The second lesson is that the shortage of components continues to rage. Sony still doesn’t seem to be able to produce enough PS5s to keep up, which obviously benefits Microsoft’s Xbox Series. The price of materials and transport has also been increasing continuously for months, and it is often the one who excels the most in the entire supply chain that stands out in this type of case.
In any case, the cumulative sales of Xbox Series X|S were twice as large last week as those of PS5. This is the second time since May, although Sony is still well ahead when looking at the total number of consoles sold since their launch.
