Battlefield 2042 is a small permanent construction site. In the meantime, the first season of the shooter has started. It looks like next time Electronic Arts doesn’t want to go for a pure multiplayer experience.

Director wanted with ten years of professional experience

How do we know? EA is currently recruiting a new director for a Battlefield single player campaign. In a job ad the publisher’s jobs page is looking for a design director for the Seattle studio led by Halo veteran Marcus Lehto. He’s been a champion of Battlefield’s narrative side for the last year and wants to expand on it.

The new design director’s job will be to “capture the core principles of the Battlefield franchise and ensure they are weaved through all layers of a masterfully crafted single player campaign.” An experienced person is required for this position – at least 10 years as a director or manager of large games is required.

The job posting has been online since February and was only recently discovered. So it’s not so easy to find such a veteran. If not even all team members are on board, it will take quite a while before we can actually play the solo campaign.
