By combining limb and football tracking data and applying artificial intelligence, new technology provides video referees in video operating roomsAutomatic offside alert. Before notifying the on-site referee, the video referee verifies the proposed decision by manually checking the kick point and automatically created offside lines. This process happens in seconds, which means offside judgments can be made faster and more accurately.

The exact same position data points will be used by the system after confirmation by the video referee and the live refereeGenerate 3D animations, detailing the position of the player’s limbs on the field. This 3D animation will always show the offside situation from the best angle, then in the stadiumPlay on the big screenwill also be available to the broadcast channel to inform all viewers in the clearest way possible.

IT House understands that FIFA said more tests will be conducted in the coming months to fine-tune the system ahead of the World Cup on November 21.
