The era of electrification is coming, even motorcycles are facing the trend of transition to pure electric. Since then, the roar of the 10,000-turn motorcycle may be heard once or less on the track.
Recently, Ducati has announced the details of its motorcycle engineering prototype that will participate in the 2023 FIMMotoE? World Cup competition. The internal code of the new car is “V21L”, which is the first electric motorcycle racing car built by the Borgo Panigale factory in Bologna, Italy.
As Ducati’s first electric motorcycle racing car, its design still continues the traditional motorcycle design.
And because the entire vehicle shell is made of carbon fiber,The aluminum load-bearing front frame weighs only 3.7kg, and the aluminum swing arm rear frame weighs only 4.8kg, so the weight of the new car including battery is controlled at 225kg, which is 12kg lighter than the requirement after the FIM competition.
On the core power system, the new car’s motor weighs 21kg and has a maximum speed of 18,000rpm/min. The maximum horsepower reaches 110kW (150Ps) and the maximum torque is 140N·m. Due to the confidential performance requirements of the racing car, the acceleration results of the vehicle have not been announced, but its maximum speed in the track test can reach 275km/h.
In terms of battery pack, the vehicle battery pack weighs 110kg and consists of 1152 independent “21700” batteries with a power of 18kw/h.
The rear of the vehicle is equipped with a 20kW charging port, which can charge the battery from low to 80% in 45 minutes. At the same time, there is enough range to complete the required 7 laps of the key GP circuit.
Ducati’s R&D Director Veicenzo De Silvio said: “The most important challenges in the field remain those related to the size, weight, autonomy and charging network of the battery. Ducati’s experience in FIM MotoE motorcycle racing will support product development for the future launch of the first street electric Ducati motorcycle.
