The PS3 and PS Vita devkits are in full glory in a new video from Canadian YouTube channel Linus Tech Tips. And “Gears of War 3” can also be seen. It was once in development for the platform.

A new video by Linus Tech Tips takes you back in time. It shows the rather massive PS3 developer kit being disassembled in said clip.

The behemoth was used by developers to create games for Sony’s 2006 console. The video also includes footage of titles like Life is Strange, LittleBigPlanet, and even Gears of War 3, which was temporarily in production as a prototype for the platform at one point.

Also, the video embedded below includes some footage of an early PS Vita dev kit working in tandem with the PS3 dev kit. The PS3 development kit emulated the final PS Vita hardware, giving the team the ability to run and test their titles.

The new hardware is presented in the clip embedded below, which already jokingly hints in the title that it could be the subject of an injunction by Sony.

Finally, it’s an interesting review that not only players should check out. Because one of the top comments apparently comes from a studio employee who emphasized that the video was a journey into the past. “God, I hated lugging those things to the devs’ desks,” he said.

More news about Sony:
