How to change the linked email on your Apple ID

Among the users of Apple technology, there are many who first purchased it for a long time. Since it is extremely difficult to use an iPhone or iPad without an Apple ID, such users also created an account several years ago. And after a while, they might find that the email address that is tied to their Apple ID has not been used for a long time. It may not even be available anymore. How to be?

It is not necessary to create a new Apple ID, because in this case you will lose the history of purchases and downloads in the App Store – for Russians in the current situation, this is a critical nuance. Fortunately, Apple allows you to change the associated email address an unlimited number of times. This is done quite simply.

To do this, grab your iPhone or iPad that’s signed in with your Apple ID and do the following:

• Open “Settings” and click on your name at the top
• Select “Name, phone numbers and email”
• In the “Contact details” section, click “Edit” → “Add email or phone” → “Add email address”
• Follow the prompts to link another email address to your Apple ID
• When the process is completed, you will see two emails in the “Contact details” block at once – a new one and an old one; under the old address there will be an Apple ID mark
• Now click “Change” and delete the old email – the device will prompt you to select a new address as the main one.

Finally, you can delete the old email, and only the new address will remain in the account. It is he who will now be used for all manipulations with your Apple ID.
