Officially unveiled last June, the Netflix series Cyberpunk Edgerunners will be released next September. The latter will take place in Night City but will tell a separate story from that told in CD Projekt RED’s game. Today, it is a sequence of the credits of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners which was revealed by Netflix.
A beautiful opening credits with Franz Ferdinand to serve you
Netflix and the producers of the series, CD Projekt RED, therefore recently unveiled the opening credits of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners series on the occasion of Anime Expo 2022. We find the polished artistic direction of the Tokyo studio Studio Trigger which is is responsible for the animation of the series. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) is directing the series while the original music is composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill).
For this credits, the choice fell on the piece This Fffire by the Scottish group Franz Ferdinand, a surprising choice that will surely not leave the public indifferent. For those who missed the general pitch of the series, here is what Netflix has to say:
“The series tells the self-contained story, over 10 episodes, of a street kid trying to survive Night City – a city of the future obsessed with technology and body modification. With everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner – an outlaw mercenary also known as a cyberpunk.”
The teams of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners series who started this project in 2018 will be able to reveal the extent of their work to the general public next school year and we can’t wait to see what this anime series taking place in the Cyberpunk universe will give. 2077.
