In a recent report, Kotaku also confirmed that Rockstar Games was now working on remasters of “Red Dead Redemption” and “GTA 4”. However, the studio is said to have decided to put the new editions on hold in favor of “GTA 6”.
In the past few months, rumors have been circulating that Rockstar Games is not only working on a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade to the western hit “Red Dead Redemption 2”.
In addition, the studio has been repeatedly associated with possible remasters of the two open-world classics “GTA 4” (2008) and “Red Dead Redemption” (2010). As the insider “Tez2”, who is usually correct with his statements about projects from Rockstar Games, recently reported, Rockstar Games is said to have decided to stop the new editions of “GTA 4” and “Red Dead Redemption”.
The statements of “Tez2” are supported by a current report from the publication Kotaku, which also wants to know about the two remasters.
Projects are apparently not yet completely off the table
As unspecified sources are said to have confirmed to Kotaku, those responsible at Rockstar Games decided to put the remasters of “GTA 4” and “Red Dead Redemption” on hold for the time being in order to concentrate fully on working on ” GTA 6″. But while “Tez2” talks about the fact that the remakes have been discontinued, Kotaku reports that the further fate of the remasters has not yet been decided.
Thus there is a possibility that the two projects will be taken up again when “GTA 6” has been completed and published. Kotaku’s sources also stated that Rockstar Games hopes that the playfully and technically disappointing “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition” will be largely forgotten until the release of “GTA 6” and will not have a negative impact on the Sales figures of the new offshoot will have.
