Canal+ is not the only service affected by the rise in VAT, which has doubled (from 10 to 20%) on certain formulas. OCS customers have also received, or will receive, a note announcing the bad news: their subscription will also increase from August 16.
The formula at €9.99 (two screens simultaneously) will increase to €10.99, that at €11.99 (3 screens) will cost €12.99 with the next invoice. This €1 increase is linked to the application of an amendment included in the 2021 finance law. The text provides that the services ancillary to a composite offer must be subject to the same level of VAT as the main component of this offer.

Canal+ had announced its intention to study all possible avenues of appeal, such as the possibility of contesting the administration’s decision, and possibly a contentious appeal before the administrative court. It is unclear whether OCS intends to get into this fight.
