Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft and one of the world’s richest people, announced yesterday that he will plow another 20 billion dollars, equivalent to over 210 billion Swedish kronor, into the charity fund Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
This means that the fund will now have around $ 70 billion at its disposal. This makes the charity fund one of the largest, if not the largest, in the world, writes the news agency AP. Bill Gates’ weapon bearer Warren Buffet has also made a new large donation to the fund when he gave the fund $ 3.1 billion last month, equivalent to almost SEK 33 billion.
On Twitter, Gates writes that by 2026, the fund plans to increase its donations from $ 6 billion per year to $ 9 billion per year. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation plans to continue donating money to organizations and projects that deal with education, to reduce poverty, to increase gender equality and to eradicate various types of diseases.
The table below shows how much Bill Gates and his ex-wife Melinda French Gates and Warren Buffet have donated to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation since it was launched in 2000.
