Disney will make feature films of Lilo and Stitch. To be directed by Dean Fleischer Camp.

Deadline reports that Disney has now found a director for its upcoming feature film version of Lilo and Stitchthe animated film released in 2002.

Dean Fleischer Camp will direct the upcoming Lilo and Stitch film. He has previously, among other things, directed the acclaimed Marcel the Shell With Shoes On which we wrote a bit about last year.

Lilo and Stitch is not the first animated Disney film to become or will become a feature film. Disney’s feature film version is coming soon Pinocchio have a premiere and there is even talk of the classic Bambi is going to be a “real” movie.

A first trailer for Disney’s Pinocchio

One of two Pinocchio movies released this year

Disney has released a first trailer for Pinocchio, a feature film based on the classic story of the lying wooden boy. We do not get to see much of Pinocchio in the trailer but a little more of his “dad” Geppetto played by Tom Hanks. Other roles include Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Pinocchio), Cynthia Erivo (Blue Fairy) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Jiminy Cricket). Disney’s Pinocchio is one of two Pinocchio movies to premiere this year. The Disney version premieres at Disney + September 6, while Guillermo del Toro’s stop motion movie Pinocchio is expected to hit theaters sometime in December.

Here comes the trailer for the upcoming stop-motion movie Marcel The Shell With Shoes On. The film is based on the bunch of short films that director Dean Fleischer-Camp released in 2010. In Marcel The Shell With Shoes On, we get to follow the snail Marcel in a kind of mockumentary where he is looking for his family. The voice of Marcel is made by Jenny Slate and in other roles Rosa Salazar, Isabella Rossellini and 60 Minutes news anchor Lesley Stahl are heard and seen playing the role as themselves. Disney is making a feature film version of Bambi

Prepare to see Bambi’s mother die again

Not entirely unexpectedly, Disney will continue to release feature film versions of its animated classics in the future. As you know, they have already released new versions of Alladin, The Jungle Book, The Lion King and Lady & Lufsen, but soon Bambi will also get a feature film version. The film will be just like The Lion King, that is, the characters are made with photorealistic animations. According to Disney themselves, they will not make too many changes to the plot so you probably have to prepare to see Bambi get rid of her mother again. With Crazy Rich Asians director at the helm

Disney’s crusade to deliver inferior versions of its classic cartoons continues and this time it seems to be Lilo & Stitch who will be released in a new version. According to Variety, Disney is in talks with John M. Chu, Crazy Rich Asians, to direct the film and the production company behind the new Aladdin is said to be producing. The project seems to be at a fairly early stage, but it won’t be too long before Disney confirms that the film is coming.
