Bungie’s shooter Destiny may be coming to iOS and Android eight years after its release on consoles. For the occasion, the publisher is working with one of the best Chinese specialists in the genre.

The Destiny saga should soon know a new episode! The MMORPG, first launched on consoles at the time in 2014, had several expansions until its sequel available on both consoles and Windows in 2017. Since then, many have wondered if Bungie would offer a mobile version, and that seems to be the case.

NetEase is on the move

One of NetEase’s artists announced on his LinkedIn profile that he was working with the game’s creator on ” an unannounced FPS for mobile “. It would be Destiny, according to the sources of the site The Game Spotand the development of the iOS and Android version would have started two years ago, which suggests that the title should not delay.

This new episode would not be directly linked to Destiny 2, but it would take up the main lines. In other words, action and shooting with great freedom to equip your character and customize it. It is also on this that the entire economic model of the game (which is free), as well as for expansion packs, is based.

In 2019, NetEase invested $100 million in Bungie’s capital. At the time, studio boss Pete Parsons was enthusiastic about the merger, which would bring Bungie significant expertise in mobile. In particular, there were plans to develop a game engine for mobile platforms.

NetEase is indeed a heavyweight, the Chinese group having participated closely in the development of Diablo Immortal with Blizzard. We can therefore expect a version of Destiny for smartphones that holds up well. We can now try it: Destiny 2 is indeed playable for free on Stadia.
