Apple quietly removed the AirTag battery indicator in iOS 15.6. Previously, tag owners could view the battery charge in the Latitude app.
In watchOS 8.7 and macOS 12.5, the battery indicator is also gone. It’s not in the iOS 16 beta either.
At the moment, AirTag owners cannot independently find out the state of the battery and replace it in advance.
Probably, the company took this step on purpose, because earlier some users complained about the incorrect and uninformative display of the AirTag charge. This is confirmed by the updated Apple support page.
Also, when the battery is discharged, a warning will appear in the Locator about the need to replace it. [9to5Mac]
