Until recently, Windows Spotlight didn’t work for us. But that has now changed in Windows 11 22H2. The background images change and if you don’t like the image, right-click on the “camera” icon and select the next image.

To activate it, it is enough to switch to Windows Spotlight in Settings -> Personalization -> Background. A small drawback so far is that it is not recognizable under Themes that Windows Spotlight has been set. That will probably change soon. Because Insider is currently testing that this setting under “Select the design to be used” will also receive this “camera” as an icon.

If you are using the current Windows 11 25163, you can definitely test it out.

  • Download and unzip the new ViVeTool
  • In the folder, hold down Ctrl+Shift and right-click to open Windows Terminal
  • Here’s the command .vivetool /enable /id:39258685 type and press enter and restart.

PS: When you set Windows Spotlight for the first time, it will take some time before a change is made. With multiple monitors, the same image is displayed on all of them.
