While we were initially expecting it for September 1, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is finally rejected by Daedalic and Nacon who need more time to refine the unpublished adventures of the famous creature created by JRR Tolkien.

It’s okay, there’s no golden death

The game is postponed for a few months for all platforms without further details. Here is the message posted by Daedalic and Nacon regarding this report:

Daedalic Entertainment and NACON would like to thank all players for their patience and support so far. In recent years, the team has worked hard to offer them an extraordinary adventure in an incredible world, full of magic and wonders. We are committed to meeting the expectations of our community and providing them with the untold story of Gollum, which will honor JRR Tolkien’s vision.

That being said, and in order to provide the best possible experience, we have decided to postpone the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum™ of a few months. We will communicate the exact date shortly. Daedalic and NACON are very grateful to their community of enthusiasts, and look forward to sharing this unique adventure with them very soon.

In any case, we understand that it will probably not be necessary to wait for it for this year. As a reminder, the title will feature the famous character that many have known through the films of Peter Jackson. The game will mix exploration, puzzles and infiltration. He will also take advantage of the character’s split personality with a specific mechanic. Our hero will cross various well-known places such as Mordor, the Mines of Moria or the slave pit. He will also come across illustrious characters such as Gandalf the Gray and Thranduil.

Now we just have to wait for a new official date. Be aware, however, that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The Switch version should arrive much later.
