European Union countries are preparing for the “worst case scenario” of a complete halt in Russian gas supplies, but Poland says it is against any mandatory energy savings. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told dpa that the dependence on Russian gas had to end, with Moscow vastly reducing supplies to the likes of industrial powerhouse Germany.
