Tested product: Xiaomi Smart Band 7
Award: Costs SEK 590 at Amazon Sweden

When the package is opened, there is not much that distinguishes the Smart Band 7 from the Xiaomi Smart band 6, which we tested in March. It basically looks the same. A black bracelet with a very slim watch.

Rating 4 out of 5

Opinion

There are some small things to note, above all the lack of a physical button. Otherwise, this is an affordable activity bracelet that does most things in the way of training while also having great battery life.

Positively

  • Award
  • Detailed app
  • Many training modes
  • Good battery life

Negative

  • The app is close to messy
  • The interface is somewhat difficult to navigate
  • Missing home button

The idea of activity bracelets is to keep track of your health. Smart Band 7 shows you everything from heart rate, oxygenation, sleep and much more. Together with an app, it’s an affordable and easy way to get in shape. Compare this with a smart watch, which does have more functions and the ability to install apps and make phone calls, etc., but which costs several thousand kroner. Here you get a training coach on your wrist for SEK 600.

The Xiaomi Smart Band 7 is a pretty story. It weighs basically nothing, 13.5 grams without bracelet. The screen is an OLED that measures 1.62 inches and has a resolution of 192 x 490 (326 ppi). It is a narrow and oblong screen in other words. It’s also slightly larger than the Smart Band 6, but it’s a marginal difference.

The screen also has a cool always on function. What it does is show the outline of the numbers that show the time. Then when you turn your wrist, the outlines are filled with color and the entire interface is displayed.

120 training modes

The Xiaomi Smart Band has 120 different sports modes that you can choose from: everything from tennis, cycling to rowing, basketball and padel. All training modes record heart rate and calories burned. You also have the option of choosing professional training modes where the watch evaluates your blood oxygen level, training load, recovery time and training effect.

Detailed app

In order for you to be able to use the activity bracelet fully, a phone is required. Smart Band 7 works equally well with IOS and Android. Download the Zepp Life app, pair with your phone and then you can start creating different training goals. Incidentally, the app is very similar to the one used by Huawei.

The app has its pros and cons. It’s incredibly detailed, which is good, but it’s easy to get lost among all the different settings. Sometimes the watch tells you to activate a certain function in the app, but it is impossible to find.

Xiaomi Smart Band 7
You get a huge overview of your training data in the app.

However, it is easy to interpret all training data, which is presented either in an easy-to-read, clear version or, if you prefer, detailed graphs with heart rate, heart rate, maximum and minimum speed and much more. It’s really fun to be able to see what pace was maintained during the training session. It’s also good to get reminders that it’s time to get up, stretch, etc.

Unfortunately, the clock reminded us several times that we should get up even though we were already up. Small things, but annoying. Another thing that is a shame is that it is not possible to charge the watch with music.

Swipe & dab

The interface is navigated by swiping and tapping the screen. It’s not always easy. Often you have to swipe multiple times for it to react. Something we don’t really understand is why they don’t invest in making the screen bigger and adding a button. The Redmi Smart Band has a larger screen and weighs just a few grams more. And it’s easier to use.

Xiaomi Smart Band 7

The Huawei Watch Fit 2, which we recently tested, is larger, but there’s no noticeable difference between wearing it and the Xiaomi Smart Band 7. Don’t get us wrong, the Smart Band 7 is still a great way to get started and track your exercise.

No gps

Something we lack is built-in GPS. In order for you to be able to keep track of exact distances, you must have your phone with you. Admittedly, the watch has several different sensors that can give a hum about how far you have run. It can also measure the oxygen content of your blood, pulse, heartbeat and sleep around the clock.
