Dell announced the end of Mobile Connect, its service allowing access to the screen of its iPhone from a PC. The program will no longer be downloadable from July 31, 2022, while the function will be disconnected for good on November 30 in Europe. However, it will be entitled to a slight reprieve in the United States, Japan and Canada, where Mobile Connect will remain active until the end of January 2023.

Dell Mobile Connect was launched in 2018 and allowed you to interact with your iPhone or Android phone via a dedicated app. Pre-installed on several Dell and Alienware computers, it offered, for example, to quickly respond to messages, or to make and receive calls. A mirroring mode allows you to use and navigate your iPhone using the keyboard, trackpad or by touching the laptop’s touch screen.

This closure leaves a void for iPhone owners with a PC. Windows offers a similar function called Phone Link, which is unfortunately not compatible with iPhones. However, Dell’s function should return in another form: Intel bought the Screenovate software (which hides behind Mobile Connect) in 2021. The founder announced better integration for its Evo platform, allowing files to be easily transferred between a PC and an Android phone or an iPhone, but also to mirror the device. The improvements should be available by the end of the year.
