According to the latest rumours, development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake has been completely halted.
A new article by Bloomberg reveals that Aspyr Media has completely halted development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake. According to the information in the article, the game has been postponed indefinitely.
On June 30, the studio unveiled a first demo version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, according to the report. The development team was happy with the result, but the studio management was not. One reason could be that this demo cost a disproportionate amount of money. Two of the project’s lead designers, design director Brad Prince and art director Jason Minor, were abruptly fired.
The report goes on to say that Aspyr wanted to release the remake by the end of 2022, but now 2025 is considered more realistic. The development is now said to be in serious trouble and Aspyr is trying to figure out how and if the remake should continue at all.
