Will Mortal Kombat 12, the next installment in the popular fighting game franchise, be revealed this weekend? Don’t count on the mark on the EVO, according to NetherRealm boss Ed Boon.

The fighting game community is looking forward to Las Vegas again next weekend. From August 5th to 7th, 2022, the EVO will once again be the largest eSports event for fighting games and numerous announcements are also expected. Among other things, the next trailer for Capcom’s “Street Fighter 6” should be expected.

Other fighting games should be the focus

What you shouldn’t expect, however, is any news about “Mortal Kombat”. Because Ed Boon, the director behind the fighting game series and head of the responsible development studio NetherRealm, has confirmed via Twitter that no announcements will be made about the brand. Speculation had surfaced that Warner Bros. would be making some announcements at EVO.

Literally wrote Ed Boon: “It’s time for Street Fighter and other great fighting games to be in the sun. Let’s enjoy!

So it remains to be seen whether the announcement of “Mortal Kombat 12” will take place in the near future. For the rest, the developer has not ruled out that NetherRealm has something to show. Accordingly, “Injustice” or a completely new brand could also have their big appearance.
