MTS complained about MegaFon to the FAS because of the slogan “operator No. 1” in an advertising campaign that started in early July. The operators did not comment on the complaint.
MegaFon’s billboards contain the call to “Switch to operator number 1”, and below in small print it is indicated that these are the criteria for “speed and coverage”, confirmed by studies.
The Advertising Law regulates the use of words meaning “best”, “first” and “number one”. If MegaFon is found guilty of violating the law, it could face a fine of up to 500,000 rubles.
