The state company FSUE “Space Communications” may become a shareholder of the satellite communications operator OneWeb, writes News.
FSUE Kosmicheskaya Svyaz owns a 3.4% stake in Eutelsat. In July, Eutelsat announced a merger with OneWeb. Shares in the combined company will be distributed equally between Eutelsat and OneWeb. After the merger, Federal State Unitary Enterprise Kosmicheskaya Svyaz may receive a little less than 1.7% of the shares.
But everything will depend on which legal entity of the Eutelsat group will be involved in the transaction. FSUE Kosmicheskaya Svyaz can simply be affiliated with OneWeb through a chain of companies.
If OneWeb shares were available, FSUE Kosmicheskaya Svyaz would be able to request financial and reporting documentation, take part in shareholder voting and receive dividends.
OneWeb is one of the largest satellite operators in the world. It launched 648 satellites into orbit, which provide high-speed Internet up to 8 Gb / s. In addition to OneWeb, only Elon Musk’s Starlink can provide such coverage and speed. [Известия]
