Dragonflight Alpha has started

Mid-July is finally here the alpha test phase of WoW: Dragonflight started. Why finally? Well, because the next expansion for World of Warcraft is due out later this year. The Blizzard developers have decided this time to only provide the testers with a part of the Dragonflight features. So instead of testing the same content over and over again to look for implemented improvements, all testers focus on a specific area for a certain period of time.

First, for example, we were allowed to explore the Azure Mountains. Later we went to the Forbidden Island, the starting area of ​​the new Dracthyr people. And then a visit to the Coast of Awakening was on the agenda. All three zones have one thing in common: They already feel surprisingly exhausted. There were no placeholder graphics, the quests mostly worked without errors and the interaction with NPCs and opponents also went smoothly. We only encountered isolated bugs on the coast.

The developers expect significantly more work elsewhere. For example, the designers are still busy working on the new talent trees for the class, and for some classes no talents have even been presented at all. The situation is similar for the professions that are getting a major overhaul. New details come to light almost every day. And the new Rufer class still needs fine-tuning, as its attacks are overpoweringly strong. According to Blizzard, the alpha servers will now be expanded with new content every two weeks. Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be released in September

First there was a leak, then the official confirmation: Wrath of the Lich King Classic releases September 27, 2022, at 12:01 a.m. Until then, the Blizzard developers still have plenty of time to mature the launch content on the beta servers. The important raid tests of Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum and Eye of Eternity have even ended. The conclusion: Raid groups were able to master the entry raids of the Northrend expansion in the 25-player version on the first evening. And that’s despite the fact that Blizzard has at least provided the bosses in Naxxramas with more life and damage. A raid was able to master Naxx even without losses in boss fights and so already in the beta secure the iconic achievement “The Indestructible”..

What, on the other hand, certainly still needs to be tested in the beta, this is the new version of wintergrasp. For Wrath of the Lich King Classic, Blizzard would like to turn the open-world PvP zone into an instanced battlefield, because according to the developers, this is the only way for as many players as possible to take part in the siege battles on the sometimes extremely populated servers to let.

Unfortunately, it is not yet known when exactly the pre-launch phase of Wrath Classic will start. Blizzard has confirmed that Classic fans can level up to the Burning Crusade area with the pre-patch death knight and the profession of inscription. The level 1 servers announced in advance should then also go online.
