Apple is releasing a new firmware update for its Studio Display today. As we reported earlier, Studio Display uses iOS-based firmware and runs on A13 Bionic chip inside. This combination allows Apple to release firmware updates for Studio Display and today’s update is called Apple Studio Display Firmware Update 15.5.

Today’s build is 19F80. This update comes after Apple acknowledged that Studio Display has an audio issue that will be resolved with a software update. Apple has confirmed in its release notes that this update does address these issues.

A few days ago reported that users are complaining about this problem with sound:

“In the last month or so, the speakers on my Studio Display have broken. Whenever I start playing music (or any other sound), it works for a few seconds and then shuts off.”

“The sound gets choppy and eventually just cuts out. Restarting the Mac doesn’t help. You literally have to turn all studio displays off and on again. It happens to me about every 5-6 weeks.”

Apple last released a firmware update for Studio Display to address webcam quality issues. Here is some context:

When the first Studio Display reviews hit the web, Apple promised to release a software update to fix webcam quality issues. The obvious hope is that the update will address issues with the Studio Display webcam, which has been heavily criticized by reviewers – and it has.

According to the code changes spotted, the Studio Display firmware update has made several changes to the webcam bezels as well as the Center Stage.

It’s interesting to see that the company is using the same 15.5 number as the previous firmware update, even though it’s not the same build that fixed the camera issue.

If you notice any changes in the new firmware from the company today, please let us know in the comments below or on Twitter @.
