A man riding a motorized scooter was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night in Elizabeth, authorities said. He was trying to cross Routes 1 & 9 in the area of Myrtle Street around 10:50 p.m. when a southbound vehicle hit him, a city spokeswoman said Monday. The scooter rider was brought to an area hospital in critical condition. The driver stopped and cooperated with police. The crash remains under investigation.
