IT House July 1 news, according to Reuters, on Thursday local time, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg (Mark Zuckerberg) said that Meta has lowered its 2022 engineer recruitment target to 6,000-7,000 people. Zuckerberg revealed this at Meta’s weekly meeting.

Previously, the company planned to hire about 10,000 new engineers, a reduction of more than 30% to over 3,000.

On top of that, Facebook parent company Meta is also gearing up for an even bleaker second half. The company also said it was coping with the impact of macroeconomic pressures and data privacy on its advertising business, IT House reported, so it intends to cut costs, suspend hiring in most of the company’s divisions, and even streamline operations.

Meta’s chief product officer, Chris Cox, said on Workplace, the company’s internal forum, that the company must “more ruthlessly prioritize business priorities” and “run leaner, more demanding, and better executive teams.”

“I must stress that we are in a tough situation right now with a lot of headwinds. We need to execute flawlessly in a slow-growth environment, and teams shouldn’t expect an influx of new engineers and budgets,” Cox wrote.
