Should we leave Earth in the next game or is it more of a design philosophy?
Disco Elysium hit like a bomb in the game year 2019 and revealed real big successes. Since then, the developer has continued to work on the game and, among other things, added voice acting and previously removed missions. But now we’re curious to see what ZA/UM will release next, and a series of job postings may have teased what’s to come.
There are awake individuals on Disco Elysium subreddit who alerted us to the job postings, which are for an “environment concept artist” and a “lead environment artist” in Unreal Engine 5. The concept artist must be able to create new worlds and love sci-fi and space, as well as have an understanding of architecture or urban planning. The environment artist, in turn, must also love sci-fi and create both interiors, urban environments and landscapes, and must also have experience in both parametric and procedural content.
So does this mean the next game from ZA/UM will be set in space? Not necessarily, as some speculate that the whole thing shouldn’t be taken literally, but that it’s about being able to think outside the box and create something unique. A third job posting for a “sales and monetization specialist” also mentions live service content, so it definitely seems to be in the plans for what they’re working on now.
