Applications for virtualization VMware Fusion received support for Apple Silicon chips. MacRumors reports.
According to the source, the developers of VMware Fusion have announced the release of the latest version of their utility to launch a virtual operating system. According to them, the application now supports the Apple Silicon M SoC on par with Intel processors. That is, on Mac computers with chips of the M1 and M2 family, you can now run Windows 11 ARM using the named utility.
This solution has several limitations. VMware Fusion will not be able to run an OS image built on an architecture other than the architecture of the software itself – for example, Windows 11 x86_64 will not run on Silicon Mac. In addition, so far VMware does not support the launch of a macOS virtual machine, and Ubuntu 20.04.0 and 22.04 for arm64 are still blacklisted from Linux.
Now VMware Fusion with support for Apple Silicon is in test mode, and developers are waiting for feedback from users to fix bugs and add some missing features. The official release of the utility is planned for the end of 2022, and the preliminary version can be download and try now.
