According to Reuters, this year, car owners will be able to pay for fuel purchases directly through CarPlay.

The feature, first mentioned at WWDC earlier this month, will allow CarPlay users to use apps to navigate to gas stations and pre-pay for fuel. The fuel companies will offer separate apps that users will need to install on their iPhone in order for CarPlay to access them. Pre-filling your billing information in the iPhone app will allow users to start refueling and quickly pay for fuel directly from the CarPlay user interface.
Fuel company HF Sinclair reported Reuters, which plans to introduce new CarPlay functionality. Similarly, P97 Networks CEO Donald Frieden reported Reutersthat oil companies want to make their apps available on CarPlay.
Apple has added more categories of CarPlay apps available for in-car use, including parking, charging electric vehicles, and ordering food. Along with apps for buying fuel, tachograph apps will also be available later this year to help keep track of driver activity. Fuel-buying apps will be available on Apple CarPlay with the release of iOS 16 this fall.
