The number of new registrations of passenger cars was 17,834 in July, an increase of six percent compared to the same month last year.
This shows statistics from Mobility Sweden (formerly Bil Sweden). Looking at the first seven months of the year, however, the number is down by 15 percent.
According to Mattias Bergman, CEO of Mobility Sweden, the major disruptions in global supply chains continue to hit the automotive industry hard.
“We assess that this year’s decline can mainly be attributed to the limited supply, although in recent months we have seen a certain slowdown in the strong demand due to the economic situation,” says Bergman in a press release.
The proportion of rechargeable cars, i.e. electric cars and hybrid cars, amounted to 50 percent in July. At that time, electric cars were slightly overweight with 26 percent of the month’s new registrations. So far this year, the share of rechargeable cars amounts to approximately 52 percent, compared to just over 36 percent last year.
