Bandai Namco has agreed a new partnership with ILCA, the studio responsible for the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Brilliant Pearl remakes.

The result is a new studio called Bandai Namco Aces, based in Tokyo.

The best of both companies

The new studio will leverage the expertise of both companies to “continue to deliver high-quality, deep and memorable content to fans around the world.”

This includes new games in the Ace Combat series. Most recently, ILCA had already made a contribution to Ace Combat 7.

According to the Bandai Namco Aces website, Project Aces is working on “next-gen projects using Unreal Engine 5”. The new studio will be led by President and CEO Takuya Iwasaki, who previously held the same role at ILCA.

“Working with Bandai Namco, we want to pass on the knowledge we’ve accumulated to a new generation to further develop this series that will go down in the history books of the gaming industry,” he says. “The whole team will do their best to give something back to Namco, who I have admired since I was a child. And I would appreciate your support.”
