A few weeks before the start on Netflix, a trailer was released for “Cyberpunk Edgerunners”, which, among other things, gives a look at the characters.
Netflix has released the first full trailer for the upcoming anime series Cyberpunk Edgerunners. The video, which you can launch below, introduces some of the main characters from the series including David, Maine, Dorio, Kiwi, Pilar, Rebecca and Lucy.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners is scheduled for release in September this year. The Tokyo-based animation company Studio Trigger is responsible for the production. Directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, known for “Gurren Lagann” and “Kill la Kill”. The original music was penned by Akira Yamaoka.
The series tells a standalone, 10-part story about a street kid trying to survive in Night City. The setting is thus a technology and body modification obsessed city of the future. “With everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an Edgerunner – an outlaw mercenary aka cyberpunk,” the creators say.
Cyberpunk 2077 is also progressing. CD Projekt announced in April that the track has sold over 18 million copies since its release in December 2020. The studio is currently working on one big “Cyberpunk 2077” expansion with a new storyline.
However, investors remain pessimistic. After CD Projekt’s share price fell 75 percent after the disastrous launch of “Cyberpunk 2077” and remained at low levels, it seems that investors are not expecting a blockbuster in the short to medium term that achieves what “Cyberpunk 2077” should have been .
