A few days ago, Digitimes broke the news that TSMC had suffered orders from three major customers: Apple, AMD and NVIDIA. Among them, Apple’s iPhone 14 series had 90 million orders, and it would be cut by 10% before it was released. However, Tianfeng Securities analyst Guo Mingji said this. The news is not recognized, indicating that it is inconsistent with his own investigation.
Ming-Chi Kuo maintained that Apple’s iPhone 14 shipments in the second half of this year may reach about 90 million to 100 million units.
In addition, he explained Apple’s usual practice in the supply chain, and it is common for Apple to make small adjustments to iPhone shipment forecasts, including adjustments before new models are mass-produced.
According to Kuo, Apple usually does not significantly change its shipment forecast for new iPhones until it releases new models and confirms actual market demand/feedback.
If supply chain issues cause major changes to the shipping schedule for the new iPhones ahead of mass production,Apple typically delays orders rather than cuts them.
The above logic also applies to other Apple products.
Previously, this year’s lineup of the iPhone 14 series and iPhone 14 Pro series will bring a series of upgrades to the iPhone, including camera improvements, styling changes to its front-facing camera notch, and Apple’s latest A16 processor.
