Nothing Phone 1 has been put to the test by Zach Nelson’s JerryRigEverything YouTube channel. The smartphone surprisingly proved to be resistant to external influences.
Let’s start with a strength test. For a mid-range device, the Nothing Phone 1 proved to be surprisingly durable. Its screen is equipped with a plastic protective film. Under it, it only starts to show scratches at level six on the Mohs hardness scale. However, this is a standard indicator for a Gorilla Glass display.
In addition to decent scratch resistance, the Phone 1’s screen also withstood the effects of fire. After 40 seconds of heating with a flame, a spot formed on the display, but it recovered and did not lose its functionality.
The frame of Nothing Phone 1 is made from recycled aluminum. It adequately withstands bending tests. Youtuber noted that when Phone 1 was bent to the front, the frame began to deform, but the body was not damaged. The same was true when Nothing Phone 1 was pressured from behind.
In general, the phone performed well. Its results were much better than the OnePlus 10 Pro, which broke in half during a bend test.
However, a similar conclusion cannot be drawn about the maintainability of the device. If you are thinking about repairing Nothing Phone 1 yourself, then PBK Reviews strongly recommends against it. Inside the phone case, there are a lot of tiny screws, covers, and cables that need to be removed before you can get to the battery or display.
