Activision confirms plans to release premium content for Call of Duty for the coming year and beyond.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will be released this year. But what the following year will look like for the Call of Duty brand is still uncertain.
On the one hand, Activision is not looking at the cards that early anyway when it comes to the shooter franchise, on the other hand, months ago, rumors indicated that the annual cycle would be interrupted in 2023 and that no Call of Duty would be launched.
But what we can say for sure is that Activision plans to release premium content, i.e. paid content, for Call of Duty for the next year. The company announced this at a quarterly conference.
It was left open whether it was a new game, new cards or other paid content.
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier said in response that he expects the premium content to be for Modern Warfare II and not for a new game. Furthermore, Treyarch would lead the development of the next Call of Duty, which is delayed to 2024.
Infinite Ward is said to be planning content for this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II for two years. A standalone Zombies game could also be in development.
