US President Joe Biden will present a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom to Steve Jobs, co-founder and former CEO of Apple. The ceremony will take place on July 7, 2022, the press service of the head of the White House reported. Jobs will be one of 17 recipients, including actor Denzel Washington and gymnast Simone Biles.
The honorary award is given to “individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the prosperity, values or security of a country, world peace, or other important public or private endeavours.”
The Presidential Medal is the United States’ highest civilian award. Having awarded her the co-founder of the Cupertino company, the first person decided to note Jobs’ invaluable contribution to the development of the computer, music and cinema industries, as well as the country as a whole.
In his statement, Joe Biden credits Steve’s creativity and vision for inventions that have changed and continue to change the communications landscape.
