Indonesia has chosen this weekend to apply new laws which thus imply the restriction of access to a number of sites and services on the Internet.
The government had so far given a deadline for compliance to the blocked services, which the latter did not respect. Concretely, these services had to register with the Indonesian government to continue to operate in the territory.
The MR5 law of 2020 aims to protect content considered illegal in the country, it thus imposes registration of services with the government so that the country has greater control over them. The idea is above all to obtain privileged contact with the services in question in order to intervene more quickly and with greater simplicity.
Currently, therefore, we can mention among the services blocked in Indonesia the Epic Games Store, Steam, Nintendo Switch Online, but also Yahoo or PayPal which has been temporarily unblocked to allow users to withdraw their money.
