In WoW: Dragonflight, you can do a lot of cool flying with dragon riding – whether on a dragon or as a dracthyr. Underlaid with the right music, you feel like Top Guns Maverick himself. Welcome to the danger zone!

Long before the release of WoW: Dragonflight, it became clear that dragon riding would not only be our highlight of the upcoming expansion. Anyone who has once risen in the alpha on the back of their new dragon will not want to go back to WoW: Shadowlands, where they have to fly around on the mounts that suddenly appear extremely slow and boring. Incidentally, it doesn’t matter for the feeling of flying whether you fly as a passenger on a dragon or glide with the Dracthyr folk ability – although this was only recently nerfed.

With the high speed some tricks can be performed. From daring aerial maneuvers through caves and under bridges to somersaults in mid-air. With the right music, there is a really top gun atmosphere. That’s probably what the YouTuber thought too Nirelock, who added the soundtrack from Top Gun to his flying interludes. The result may not be an epic work of art from Hollywood, but it is an ingenious video that immediately makes you want to ride a dragon.

Flying anywhere could be cool…
At the same time, the video also shows directly why it would be extremely cool if Blizzard enabled dragon riding in all zones – including in the previous Azeroth. Because you can’t swing into the air with your kite there. So the Dracthyr flight form has to be used, but unfortunately it has a five-minute cooldown.

Incidentally, we found the flights across the lower town particularly spectacular. Incidentally, that would not be possible with the mounts, since you are automatically taken from the mount inside buildings. You can’t start there with the folk ability either – but you can continue flying if you’re already in the air.
