Update from August 2, 2022 (6 a.m.): This Tuesday, Sony Interactive invites you to the factory sale again – as always between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. The invitation emails were sent yesterday afternoon.

We have received a number of questions, which shows that this is a ‘genuine’ Sony email and not a phishing attempt. Pay attention to the following features:

1. Sender is an email.playstation.com address.
2. The mail goes to the address associated with the PSN account.
3. The salutation is done with the PSN name.
4. The email arrived around 3pm on Monday afternoon.

Update from August 1, 2022 (9 a.m.): The Gamescom week in Cologne starts in three weeks: After a three-year pandemic break, small and large game manufacturers will be presenting themselves at the exhibition center again. For PlayStation fans, the question naturally arises: is it worth buying a ticket?

For those on God of War Ragnarok or PlayStation VR2 speculate – probably not. Because Sony Interactive canceled very early on, as did Electronic Arts (FIFA 23) or Activision Blizzard (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2).

Nevertheless, there are of course a whole range of publishers from whom – also – PlayStation 5 material can be expected, such as THQ Nordic, Koch Media, Level Infinite or Bandai Namco Entertainment. Ubisoft has already announced the Gamescom program and will Skull and Bones show – but not playable, but as a demonstration in a cinema.

Update from August 1, 2022 (8:45 am): Welcome to a new PS5 ticker week – nice to have you with us. We monitor and document the situation on the PlayStation 5 market to answer the question: where and under what conditions can the PS5 be bought?

In the past week, the answer was comparatively simple – namely in a lot MediaMarkt*- and Saturn* branches throughout Germany. In some cases, reservations were accepted, in other cases you could pick the PS5 box directly from the pallet. As is usual in retail, the PS5 is sold almost exclusively in the form of bundles, i.e. in combination with games and/or accessories.

The MediaMarkt/Saturn campaign is proof that a particularly impressive number of PS5 consoles have recently been redirected to stationary retail – only a small proportion went to online sales.

The reasons are varied. It remains important for chains to bring customers into the stores, because impulse purchases often also take place there – from HDMI cables to controllers. As a side effect, the scalpers and resellers who otherwise buy consoles online on a large scale and then sell them on at a premium are slowed down, at least in part. This also happens offline, but is more time-consuming because of the local pickup.

at eBay* the increased delivery quantities can already be seen: This Monday morning we are registering almost 500 PS5 consoles in their original packaging. The prices are tending to fall because there are already a seven-digit number of PS5 owners in Germany – so the number of interested parties is inevitably falling.

If you want to order the PlayStation 5 online, you should keep an eye on Amazon this week. The typical sale day is Wednesday. A Prime account remains essential.

If you want to stock up on PS5 games at a particularly low price: the 3-for-2 campaign at MediaMarkt runs up to and including tomorrow, Tuesday. The deal: you choose three different available PS5 games and only pay for two (complete selection*). If you combine cleverly, you quickly save 50, 60, 70 € compared to buying the items individually.
