Hi all! The hot summer has come, and the gaming industry has gone on vacation. And that means fewer events, fewer releases and fewer trailers. But we still have some fresh gaming industry news from the past week for you, as well as new trailers and games that are coming out next week.
What happened?
Failure of cybertests
The failed launch of Cyberpunk 2077 has long been history, but some are still looking for someone to blame. So, an employee of the Romanian studio Quantic Lab contacted the youtuber Upper Echelon Gamers, which was engaged in testing not only Witcher 3, but also the same Cyberpunk.
According to the YouTuber, he got a document that described a large amount of dishonest work on the part of Quantic Lab. So, the office stated that a lot of qualified specialists are working on Cyberpunk 2077, but in reality there are a small number of new employees who had to be trained right in the process. Since testers were given quantity quotas, they bombarded the CD Projekt RED developers with a thousand small bugs, because of this, serious problems could get lost in a pile of little things.
It seems that this is the problem, but another blogger talked to his sources in CDPR and they denied all this information. They said that they themselves are to blame for all their problems. They were well aware of all the bugs, but due to poor management, there was simply not enough time for this – the game was literally made on fire anyway. CD Projekt RED, of course, had an internal testing department that also knew and tracked everything, so there is no fault of Quantic Lab in this. Quantic Lab itself also stated that it always takes a responsible approach to work and did not deceive anyone. Apparently, the truth is somewhere in the middle.
Rabbits and mushrooms
Ubisoft revealed some new details about Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, and also showed the gameplay. The world of rabid rabbits and the Mushroom Kingdom is attacked by a dark goo named Kursa, who wants to suck up all the energy. Kursa’s minions hunt for sparks – hybrids of rabbits and lumes. Mario and the team, of course, must prevent all this. You control three heroes to choose from, each with their own unique abilities.
The main gameplay difference between Sparks of Hope and the previous Kingdom Battle is the hybrid turn-based mode: you don’t move the heroes along special squares, but you can freely control them within the move zone. This, in turn, allows you to effectively combine the abilities of the characters. Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will release on October 20 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
Short events
Some news in one line. They are interesting but short:
- Rumor: Skull & Bones testing was canceled due to the quality of the game, but the release will not be postponed.
- Insider Tom Henderson believes that the new Need for Speed will be presented at the end of July, and will be released on November 4, 2022.
- The creators of inFamous are making a new game, but not in the inFamous or Sly Cooper series.
- The game Riders Republic will burn the forest to draw attention to environmental issues.
- The director of the previous God of War asked not to send dikpicks to the developers of Ragnarök – this will not help to find out the release date of the game. According to rumors, the release date of God of War: Ragnarök was supposed to be presented on June 30, but something went wrong. They still plan to release the game in November – allegedly on the 11th.
- In Overwatch 2, the design of the benches was changed because users felt that the homeless could not sleep on them.
